RnB Tracks don't usually have a pad bed.
If they do, they're not usually the same lush ones you find in dance tracks, consisting of layers timbre and tuning alterations.
RnB/Hip-Hop chords tend to sound more sterile, the reason being, I believe is that Rnb is very vocal-based and I guess many RnB artists don't want to distort the messgae....same with Rnb (Hip-Hop drums, they're not overly complex with fills every bar, just nice grooves with SUBTLE differences to create subtle contrast but not distract the groove or away from the vocal performance.
Just my thoughts.
