Chord Progression and scales??

No. You can use whichever voicing of the chord. It usually is better to connect chords between themselves more fluently with inversions that are as close to each other as possible (which is also easier to play if you imagine playing a piano-as you don't have to move your hands so much) to get that feeling of flowing. You could however used chords in the root positions but that usually translates to more "jumpy" transitions which to my taste is also cool, as long as it's not over done. Anyway there are no rules in music! So go on out there and experiment, do dumb things and later in the day you might find yourself coming up with a pretty sick ideas. And remember music is supposed to be fun so don't stress about theory too much, it'll come.. :)

Take care, bay bay :)
