Well you can have all the money in the world and still look like a clown. Believe me nothing wrong with making dollars but when you start off talking sh*t about artists rapping in pringles commercials and then you turn around, put some sh*tty chick singer in your "hip hop" group and change your sound completely just to sell records that's weak. They used to talk sh*t about commercialism and now that's all they are is a commercial. Just hypocrites is all. Btw I wouldn't f*ck Fergie's fake a** with Taboo's d*ck.

well the music industry is a business and when it comes down to it its sell records or french fries i think they made the right choice

lol they did fine they just got impatient. I don't see Talib Kweli, Common or The Roots workin' at Mickey D's. They're just soft. Music is an artform as well as a business. It's about balance. You can make good music and get paid well to do it. I guarantee I could start making 50 cent type beats and lil Jon type sh*t and be making a little more money especially in this area but there's no challenge in that.

good music is subjective. Common has finally gone platinum after how many years? The roots are the only exception to the rule that u made they have gone platinum on almost every album they have dropped. Kweli is lucky to go Gold. If ur makin music u do it for different reasons. They do it to please an audience. They are pleasing a different audience and now people start to hate. I like Kweli I like Common I like the Roots. they are all good for different reasons tho. They are lyrical they make u think and if ur sittin there ready to get preached to then ur fine thats their thing. BEP, Bow Wow, Chingy, Ying Yang, Nelly ect. are there to make fun dance music. U dont ever hear Common in the club, U dont hear Talib in the club and u rarely hear the roots in the club. its for a reason

I didn't see this before so I'll respond now. The reason bep, bow wow, chingy and ying yang get played in the clubs is because no one pays attention to what is said in a song at a club they are there just to dance. The people who should be getting credit for those type of tracks are the producers who are moving the crowd not the weak rappers behind the beat. Reason I say this is because before I got more serious about producing hip hop tracks I produced house. If you look at house tracks the producer is always the one who gets credit. Even if there is someone singing on that track the song is still by that producer. Oh and as for Common being played in clubs you're wrong...lol I used to mix house music at alot of the clubs in Detroit and I used to play a track called Full Moon by Armand Van Helden and Common raps on it. Even though Common rapped on it it was Armand's track. Chingy, nelly, Bow Wow, BEP, etc. are not hip hop artists they are dance artists and should only be categorized as so. My beef with BEP is that they used to be excellent hip hop artists and they changed up to poppy dance artists for money. On top of that they preached against this sort of thing. I have more respect for Nelly than I do them and that is sad. Nelly never claimed to be anything other than what he is though. All in all BEP will be kicking themselves when the dance trend changes and it always does and then they'll be just another washed up dance group.

I understand what ur sayin but I still disagree with you. I love what BEP is doing. They are making fun music. Music is supposed to be fun. If I wanted to be preached to Id go to church. I hate alot of concious hip hop for that very reason. I dont want to pay to listen to ur trials and tribulations on a record I have my own **** to worry about. Im glad that rap is in the state its in now. Its one thing to tell war stories I like that but someone has to be around to make sure we have fun. I dont see how anyone could really enjoy listening to rap with a message all the damn time. I can listen to the words and respect the message but I dont care about overly complex lyrics or complex lyrics at that Id rather have the artist get to the point. Thats the reason the world loved Pac. His rhymes werent complex he got right to the point. I wish more artists could be as versatile as he was but not too many people can go from Dear Momma to I Get Around.

Then you aren't digging deep enough. It seems like you are more a fan of dance and pop music than hip hop. Hip hop has always been about a message. It's why it was started. If you aren't a fan of it then that's cool but don't call dance music hip hop because it's totally different. I think you should dig deeper into hip hop. I like music with a message but I also like good beats. I'd say my hip hop preference is geared towards Cali Underground. You should check out artists like Lyrics Born, Hieroglyphics and Ostrich Head. Check out Lyrics Born's same sh*t different day cd. I guarantee you will find tracks on that cd that are fun and still keep it in the realm of hip hop. Seriously check it out and tell me what you think. Cali underground is great because it has a good balance of beats and lyrics.
