Best way to learn instruments

I know practice and practice but practice what? I know how to play piano to an extent. I can recognize songs but I don't have that much coordination to move the right and left at the same time. For instance, I know the notes to Linus and Lucy but can't move my fingers on my right at the same as my left with out getting it twisted. I'm a chord player more than an actual piano player. Same with the sax. any tips?

Practice the stuff you can't do systematically and slowly, until you can do it. If you're having trouble combining hands, learn the LH part, then RH, then try playing both at the same time, start out as slow as you need to, speed will come as your muscle memory improves.

some good things to practice are scales, intervals, chord progressions, chord inversions, modulations, etc. Google piano exercises if you can read music. Barnes and Nobles has books on Improvising Blues and Jazz, they might help.
