Ableton Question (drums)

I'm wanting to force varied velocities into the snare and hats, or in other words, make it so when I trigger the hats and kicks they have different velocities each time I smack the pads. I've tried the velocity plug-in for ableton and I can't seem to get around it. I've even tried programming an lfo (that swings between values) to control the velocity plugin but nothing seems to work! I just want the hats to have a different feel each time I trigger. Hope you can help!

Hmm, the velocity plugin's random setting works just fine for me. But of course if your sample isn't velocity sensitive - which is the default behaviour of a sample dragged into the Drum Rack (ie. the Simpler that it loads in has a velocity setting of 0%) - it won't do anything...
