808's and low strings

whenever i play an 808 with low bass'y strings it sounds bad and i cant eq the strings to take the bass out or they dont sound as good. Are there any techniques i can use or tutorials?

However my guess is that your 808 needs to be tuned to the current root note or bass note in the low strings: i.e. this is NOT an EQ problem but a tuning problem

Chances are the frequencies are clashes, your 808 should be mono / dead center. So completely pan out your low strings to the left and right side to clear up room in the low end.
