dre headphones?
I've heard the Audio-Technica ATH M50's are a GREAT pair. and they're only like $200.
interesting review i came across. i tend to think beats are overrated considering ive have both pairs (Not Pro's But Studio's N Solo HD's). This dude really has a point. In the long run your really just paying for a status symbol with a better build.. Which ive come to realize lol. Really other than the overpowering bass that all beats have & the nice build's (Studio's N Pro's).. The Audio-Technica ATH-M50's Beat them in all categories.

Frequency response of Beats = weak

Beyond the "look" and superstar branding, Beats by Dre's aren't surpassing audio quality of headphones in the $150 range. Disturbing when you look at the price.
Someday producers will quit paying more because they're told something is "more professional"...actually, no, we won't. That's why companies that make crap stay in business off of our hard earned money.
I use $60-100 max headphones because I have destructive kids who I allow to use my gear. Before kids I had some Audio Technicas that ran me about $250 best headphones I've ever heard in my life. Better than 702s IMO. Just can't remember the model of the ATs.
EDIT: I may have been thinking I paid more than I did. I can't find a pair of ATs beyond $150. That just furthers my point though.

Two things that annoy me are people who are positive out of ignorance, and people who are negative out of bitterness. People who are neither usually get along with me and agree with most of what I say. People who are one of the 2 think I'm the other.

I always like the DT770, on my 3rd pair and still love em.
I LOVE the Audiotechnica ATH-50s...great bass response without being overhyped. I've mixed several singles for people using them. You just gotta learn the sound stage in the headphones. PLEASE avoid the Beats by Dre series. WAAAY overpriced, no matter how you slice it.
Using the BeyerDynamic DT880 Pros and I absolutely love them. They don't color the audio and My mix sounds great when played in studio monitors. I agree for any producer who uses beats. I understand that they are heavily marketed as the go to headphone but I don't want to hear a song I made and be like the bass is off. I want something neutral that will show flaws in my mix.
