Studio monitors - mpd - advice

Hey FP,
I've been producing for about 6 months and am looking to add to my setup. I'm currently working with an old keyboard, my workflow is terrible as I hate using the keys to make sampled beats. I really want to get an MPD to up the work flow and just make this even more enjoyable, however I only own a pair of Logitech speakers.

My question is, with 200 dollars to spend ( I don't have a job), should I get an MPD or a set of monitors?

I don't know about an mpd improving workflow, but banging out drums is more fun with pads.
Speakers would be a better investment, but an $200 you will have to do some research to find something worthwhile.
Maybe on sale, or even a liquidation sale?
I picked up a pair of Destination audio bookshelf speakers for $50. These were originally a $320 pair being sold by the rbh factory outlet. They are suitable for monitoring, but I'm not sure if you can find them still?
Anyway check out these factory outlets. Polk, and harmon kardon/jbl have ebay outlets too, and sometimes very good deals on speakers suitable for monitoring.
Then maybe you will have enough money for both.
