    aight mate,
i was in your position a couple of years back. started droppin beats at 15 on FL. My advice if you aint got the money is to get the mic, keep your rhymes strong an learn to push FL as far as its sound can go, then when you mastered that an hopefully ya got sum cash invest in a mixer and a synth, or drum machine. thats what i did an after all the practic of programmin with the basics makin tunes with the good equipment comes easier an easier an they sound a fuk of a lot better ,,,, safe

Im 15, i saved up for a Studio Projects C1 condenser mic a fewmonths back along with an M-Audio Audio Buddy Pre-amp. With cables and stand it was around 300. My quality isnt professional by any means but unless you know something about recording the average person cant tell. My vocals are crisp and clear and even without any sound isolation it sounds good. I also have recently begun the expansive journey of beat making. I use FL Studio along with a M-Audio Radium61 MIDI controller. Im very satasfied with this set up for now, as im not yet at the level of most the guys here for who bigger. better gear is necessary. With that said, if you know what your doing, you can make ill ass music wit FL, a MIDI controller, and the right sounds.

In conclusion, i'd save up until you can afford a decent mic/pre amp and a MIDI controller. Get the most out of what you have now and learn FL inside and out. Work on your flow and lyrics man, just enjoy the music. Best of luck.

    Peace
    Stay up...

Sup vex. I like you're hunger. Man, I wish I was broke and 16 again. I'm decently wealthy and hooked up in the gear dept. now that I'm 27. But I'd like to be 16 again and less cynical and more motivated and hungry. Yes, I'll admit to being cynical, it would help you other older cats around here to admit you are as well, I've read the posts, and admit how you wish you had that 16 y/o passion and fire again. I'll even admit that if I had less gear, I'd make loads more music. Cut the kid some slack. If you got a good laptop, I say kill a few birds with one stone. Get an M Audio Ozone. It is a Controller and mic preamp in one. $249.99. Get a decent cheapo mic instead of the crappy cheapo mic you got. Behringer B2 will be alright for bedroom ballin' right now. $149.99. That is $400.00, but at 16 I know there are plenty of ways to get that kind of money in two or three months. Lastly, buy a boom stand, pop blocker, and hang some sheets in your closet. I'll make you a deal. You get the Ozone, B2, stand, pop blocker, and some beats done with what you got already, E-mail me scanned receipts of your purchases as proof you got 'em; I'll send you a copy of Sonar 3 Producers Edition for free to record your music into. Bet.
