Problem with hearing stereo

Hi guys,

First of all I dont know for sure if this is the right spot to post this but Id figure here are enough people with a good understanding about how things like this work. So first of all, Im 27 years old and I looove producing music, its my passion. When I was younger I used to have alot of hearing infections and I have had numerous problems with my hearing over the years. Luckily my hearing is not that fucked up that I am not able to make music anymore or enjoy it but it did take alot of time and effort to deal with certain problems (for example I got chronical Tinnitus 2 years ago from a hearing infection in my middle ear). ive been very careful with my hearing over the last few years.

However since a short while I noticed a small change in my hearing. When I hear sounds very stereo it seems to be that the sounds are much louder presented in my left ear, while hearing them mono I dont hear any difference. Its something I noticed only a short while ago. I already went to the doctor and underwent a hearing test and nothing seems to be changed to my hearing over the last few years. I thought it might be my acoutics (which suck lol) but I tried several sources (speakers, headphones etc) and the problem seems to be the same.

Anyone who can help me out?

This is really an issue for an audiologist and/or an e.n.t. dr. If you're sure that something is wrong, and your dr. can't find anything, it's time to see a specialist...

Tnx for your reply.

I went to see an ENT but she said that my eartest didnt show a change in results compared to an earlier one, so she could not find anything.

If the problem is intermittent, try taking notes in a journal and get as specific as you can (what you're listening to, how loud, when, what environment, and try to describe the effects). This might help you to figure out what's going on, and it will give you specific information that might help your doctor to pinpoint the problem and a solution.

Also, advocate for yourself. If the doctor says "I can't find anything," tell her "look again," or ask which professional you should see next. You've got to pursue this for yourself, if it's a priority for you...
