avoid the cave

use the open room; center your production table/desk 1/3 into the long part of the room facing teh short wall, halfway into the room parallel to that short wall.

Room dimensions would be useful in advising you about room resonances for treatment options

Cave is 7 1/2 long by 12 1/2 wide and 8 high. Any suggestions for use of cave? Maybe recording vocals, or don't use at all?
Larger part of room is 20 long by 14 1/2 wide and 13 high at it's highest point. Ceiling is vaulted (pics included below)

I've almost got my head around this but the photos have me thinking there are two cave like parts to the rooms can you draw floor plan please?

first responses though are use the cave carefully for vocals: treat two walls to reduce flutter echo in the space, carpet on the floor to further assist

main room resonances are at 43Hz-71Hz (variable with height changes), 39Hz and 28Hz

cave resonances are 71Hz, 75Hz and 45Hz

for the main room you might consider hanging some absorbers as demonstrated in this page The Recording Manual read the right hand side column and make sure to click on all tabs at the top of page that you link to (they take you to separate content)

definitely should put up large panel diffusers/absorbers on the long walls

looks like a fun room to try and make work
