Ok i have got some money together and i am ready to start building my home studio. The list below is what i am looking to buy, if you have any advice on the stuff that i have chosen or stuff that i haven't then feel free to let me know.

    Monitors - Yamaha NS10's

Mic - Rode Classic MkII (might consider another mic)

Acoustic Treatment - Auralex D108L Roominator DST

Vocal Booth - i'm still on the lookout for one

    Digi 002

    Headphones

    Turntables

    MPC4000

    Korg Triton LE

    I already have a computer.

    Anything missing?

I am still researching so this is not my final list.

For one thing, I would get a better keyboard workstation. Maybe a Motif ES or a Fantom.

yeah, you r missing 1 thing: a mic pre! Also, what kinda music do you produce? I am not sure if the Rode is a good choice. You could get much more bang for the buxxx with others (depending what u wanna record). For 1.5 grand (that's what a Rode Classic II costs), you could get a Lawson FET ($895) or Soundelux 195 ($1,150) or a Brauner Phantom C ($1,250). Those are goods mics! I doubt, though, that it makes sense to throw so much money on a mic if you don't have a pre and converters that match.

The Digi002 indeed has mic pre's -- I think they're Focusrites, which are good, but I think your budget could stretch into something even better...I've been drooling over a Manley Voxbox, but that might be a bit overkill with your mic choice

First off, if you haven't been doing this for *at least* a couple years (probably more like 5 to 10 years), you're a fool for putting $27,133.58 (15,000 pounds converted as today) into a studio. And no offense, but I can tell by your list that you're not ready to spend nearly $30K on a (home!)studio.

    For example:

    1. Anyone who had nearly $30K to spend on a studio would NEVER consider using the 002's mic pres. If you make rap music, the vocal is (probably) the most important thing - a professional studio would not run a Rode MkII into the 002 for the vocal chain. NEVER.

    2. What about your (AD & DA) converters? And if you tell me you were just gonna use the 002 as your converters, I'll tell you again - you have A LOT more research to do and experience to gain before spending ~$27K on a studio.

    3. Acoustic Treatment. Do you know exactly how much you need?, or do you plan to just buy that huge kit and not use the left overs? Did you do research to determine if auralex is the brand you want?

    4. A triton and MPC - What? There goes all originalty. Hell, why don't you just find a studio that has close to $30K in gear that makes rap, and buy exactly what they have - that way you don't have to think at all.

    5. Monitors. Have you ever heard NS10s? They sound like **** (well, that *is* the point). If you have heard them, and more importantly, actually mixed on them, and like them, then cool, get those. But if you decided on those because you read a lot of people use them, gimme a break. Also, NS10s are not active . . . what amp are you going to use?

    6. Software. By buying the 002, I guess you want to use Protools LE. That's cool (sequencer choice is all about what you like anyway). But what about plugins/efx? Did you leave any room in your budget for more software? This kinda goes with . . .

    7. Do you plan to mix and master your own material? I'll assume the computer you have already has all the plugins/DSP cards you need for that. If not, make room in the budget.

    8. Sounds. (Considering the mpc really isn't a sound maker in it's own right) You have only one thing on your list that makes sounds - the triton. So, with a ~$27K budget you have decided to buy only one keyboard/sound generator that doesn't depend on sampling (ie MPC and tables). And not even the latest generation - a triton LE. I guess your budget for vinyl is large . . .

    9. What about cables? Power conditioner? Racks and/or studio desk? Amp for monitors? Mood lighting/studio decoration? (ayight, not a big point, but you want your new studio to feel good to you) *What about the room you're going to record in?*

There are nine problems I have with your list. but the most important is #10.

    10. Are you really ready AND qualified to spend nearly $30,000 on a studio? In other words - what is your objective in purchasing all this gear? AND, what have you worked on that makes you think you are justified in spending this much? - what are your credentials? Or are you just doing this for fun . . . ?

Not trying to be a dick here, but these are things you really need to know before you spend that kind of money. I'll help later today by suggesting some stuff, but this post is already too long and I'm curious as to how you reply.
    Crunk off.
