Mic Pres & Synths

I'm making some changes to my recording set-up as a better informed musician.

Unfortunately, the synth I have my heart set on has unbalanced outputs. The preamp I have my heart set on(Digimax LT) only accepts balanced cords. A couple of questions:

What happens if I use balanced cords with an instrument with unbalanced outputs?

Do they make cables with one balanced tip and one unbalanced tip?

Anyone ever recorded a synth through the Digimax LT? What type of results did you get? Does your synth have balanced or unbalanced outputs?

You should be fine......

Im sure the DigiMAX will accept either balanced or unbalanced signals. There is nothing in the spec list that says it accepts ONLY balanced signals.

Most gear these days will accept both, and work on the principles of impedance balancing....

As long as you try to keep your audio cables apart from your power cables, the noise/interference should be minimal.

Buy them, you wont have any problems...

Good luck!

Thinking scientifically, the input should just balance one side and everything should be fine, but I recall reading something that implied unbalanced cables wouldn't work. Of course, now I can't find it.

I think you're right though.
