I spent a lot of time at Guitar Centar (STL, MO.) just listening to monitors before making my purchase. The Events are by far the best monitors I've heard in the 300-500 dollar range. I also went out to many websites and gathered test data and reviews on these monitors.
The krk rokits are not even in the same class as Event 20/20's I don't remember your thread, line for line so I'm not sure if those (20/20) are the exact Event's you have but what I do know is that after extensive testing I would have purchased a pair of Yamaha MK's or M Audio before purchasing the Krk rokit. I will admit I liked the sound of the Krk V8 but when I had the store clerk remove the KRK sub from the equation the bass nearly disappeared. That left me with a very uneasy feeling about the sound I was getting from them ( and that is one of Krk's better monitors) Further research from someone I trust confirmed my suspicions / checkit out but decide for yourself. I understand that your trying to resolve an issue that may be connected to your monitors which according to your description of the problem is highly unlikely but jeez the Krk rokits ( you can't be serious, I just hope I'm not too late with this)

Well I currently use Event Precision 8's and I am very very happy with them. The rokit is actually Krk's newest line but there is a monitor called the Expose on their website that I have yet to test out, I haven't seen it in any of the local stores here. While out shopping for gear, plugins, etc., I nearly ALWAYS go listen to monitors (I don't know why) but everytime I go to GC or McMurry's Music I take one of my mixes with me. The KRK V8 series 2 actually sounded pretty good this trip around but simply could not stand up to the superior sound of the Mackie HR824 or the Event Precision 8's and when you compare them side by side you'll know why. Both the Mackies and the Events are a bit more expensive but def worth it if your going to be mixing for the best sound possible for your pre-master. I'm a firm believer that a good master is only as good as a good mix. But like I always say, don't take my word for it , throw some of your material on a cd and hustle to your local store to take a listen.

cool. thanks. i appreciate all opinions on somethin like this. its not a yes or no issue, everyone has a little different opinion.

goog thing is, my impulsive friend just bought a pair of the 8in vIIs LAST NIGHT, which is friggin awesome. so i can get a real good idea of what they are like before i plunk down the G for em.

but the 4in vIIs are just irresistable to me right now.... haha.

    peace.
