Computer
*************************
DELL Studio XPS 13
Core2Duo @ 2.4 GHz
4GB RAM DDR3
500GB HDD + 3TB External HDD

Software
*************************
Ableton Suite 8
Reason 5
Pro Tools 8 LE
and a bunch of VSTs

Hardware
*************************
AVID Mbox 3 Mini
AKAI MPK88 Midi Controller
M-Audio BX8a Deluxe
Rode NT1a Vocal Condenser
Audio-Technica ATH-M50s

Future Purchases (I would love some advice/comments whether it is necessary)
*************************
M-Audio SBX10 Woofer (I use the sine Bass a lot in my tracks, and I can't hear all of them if I go to low)
SE Project Reflexion Filter (I get a lot of white noise with my recordings for some weird reason)

*I heard any preamp under $800 won't have any huge difference compared to the Mbox 3's preamp.

Hardware:

Apple Mac book Pro Intel chip 2.53 ghz

Alesis M320
Gemini turntable

My question though is about setup...
Im trying to set everything up so i can listen to them (rd500/venom) if i just want to play but be setup to record without reconfiguring if that makes sense.

Do i need to add in a mixer?
I do own a patchbay.... Was thinkin the Mackie Big Knob for playback and routing for DAW, 2KXL, and turntable.....?

i feel like no matter what i do, or how much i spend(not a lot) i'll never be able to record vocals with quality

The best one for the project at hand.

It could be anything from a $100 dynamic to a $3,000 Neumann depending on the project. It's good to have a few options and learn how they manipulate vocals. The right freqs on one vocal won't be the same for the next.

I remembering reading an interview with RZA, saying that he had all sorts of different mic's for all the different members of the Clan, different compression settings etc, when you put it in perspective like that, it makes his production that much more impressive..
