height of monitors

Important, if possible, especially if they are near-fields. If they are medium-field or larger monitors, they can be higher or wall mounted or what-have-you. But they should be at the same height (facing down or in as necessary), rather than placed differently. Otherwise, you are getting sound from one side sooner than the other, which will mess up your imaging and therefor your mix.

The ideal set-up is an equilateral triangle with you at the point (or "sweetspot").

Definitely important, if your monitors are way above your ears, you can purchase monitor stands or recoil stabilizers that have a downward slant and that will help with that.
