To which extent can this data about a room be trusted?

Hi everyone,

awesome info in the sticky thread. So I 've read about this:
Every room has three modes of resonance
Axial - along the mid-line of the room dimensions Height (H), Width (W), Length (L)
Tangential - along the joins of any two two dimensions - HW, HL, WL
Oblique - in the corners where all three dimensions meet - HWL
And decided to use this online calc amroc - the room mode calculator
But, I need to measure my room dimensions first.
But then I think: room is a real room not a model. It has many imperfections and walls are crooked. Not to mention windows and my room has a hole (it is an entrance).
So, while I'm not quite understanding what "modes" are, how can this data be improved?
