Try humming a flow/delivery pattern at first then filling in your humming with words.. See how that goes for you.

Definitely try the humming like Marcus said.
Also, learn some hip hop songs and know their lyrics and flows by heart. Practice using their flows and put your own lyrics on to them. Then from there you can make up your own flows.

Honestly, its all within the soul. As easy as it may be for me to say this it is as simple as that. Like Marcus Polk was saying just get a flow/rhythm going in your heart and write the lyrics that express what you truly feel inside.

Sometimes a piece of music I or others have created inspires me to write, but more often for me the times I feel like I enjoy writing the most and it comes easiest when I'm expressing myself truly, when I have something to really say, when I want to shout the rooftops declaring my love for my girlfriend, vent about how ****ed up corrupt politics are, let out personal demons in the times when darkness surrounds me most, or just want to make people laugh with a silly clever line. If you feel you suck at writing lyrics, look at the people you admire, you can study the technical aspects that may become obvious when looking at their albums, but also try to look at their motivations behind their songs or albums, how what they do and who they are translates to the music they create. Writing lyrics is more than just putting down a collections of words, it's a part of you, an extension of what you want to express, so don't be afraid to dig deeper.

Or maybe I'm just spewin' bullshit.

Beautiful way to put it. Couldn't explain it any clearer. Don't ever be afraid to step outside your boundaries to express who you are or how you feel.
