hi guys I really need your views on this. could be a very useful tip for you also

I have just wrote what I believe to be an amazing verse for my song. the problem I have is that in order to create a verse that is affective I mimic aniother track I like. basically I wrote me lyrics around the number of sylables in each sentence of another track. my rythm for the lyrics sound spot on. my song is completely different in subject to the other but can I get done for copyright if none of the words are the same.

oh I have fallen into the trap of singing mine to the same rythm lol oops

    cheers guys

Thats a tricky one... I'd be inclined to say just go with it if it sounds good. play it to a few people and see if they recognise the melody and if not you should be ok. Maybe just change a few little parts. I'm not sure if you can get sued for that but I guess its like saying "well it might sound like stairway to heaven but i played it on a marimba so its different!"

Just do it, if its a different enough track people won't recognise the similarity between the vocals

I would just do it. There are always a lot of songs that sound similar to the biggest current hits. If you listen to lesser hits of previous decades, they very often have a very similar melody of the biggest hit of that time.

Yeah just go for it, you wont get sued anyway unless you start making money off it so just throw it on a mixtape to showcase your skills if anything.
