This is a tune that I recorded on my old yamaha 4-trk machine about 10yrs ago, that I call "The Winds Of Change".
The old 4-trks can't compare with the audio quality of a modern software multi-tracker so yeah I know its not as clean as todays mixes, still, for a home 4-trk demo, I thought it was pretty good. Thats why I'm here at future producers, to learn how to record these projects properly in a modern studio, like cubase. Just being a songwriter isn't enough anymore.
Anyway, this is how we used to do it. Give it a listen, and tell me what you think. If you like get-down southern rock, you might like this.
The Winds of Change
V1.
Everyday - Its the same
The leaders call their martyrs now
To dress their ranks and heads them on thier way
Brandishing their placards
Singin' out their songs
Dreamin' of the day when they can put away this wrong
And they stand on their conviction
While they look you in the eye
And you like them for their courage
When the boys in blue arrive

Theres an anger - Theres a pain
Theres a loss - And theres a gain
Let them in, now let them in
Theres a challenge that we rise too
With every cause that bears our name

Though sticks and stones may break your bones
And hardship shake your faith
Listen to the wise men, and take heart in what they say

Can stop the winds of change

And control - Slips away
On the sidewalks their detractors shake their fists
And swear they'll never see the day
Brother judges brother as their angry worlds collide
They think they hold the high ground
But theres martyrs on both sides
Fury knows no mercy
And the marchers fear the worst
The boys in blue don riot gear
And tell 'em to disperse

And the blows - Fall like rain
For the naive in the masses
Life will never ever never be the same
When brother battles brother
Its a bitter hand to hand
When they find the lion ain't ready yet
To lay down with the lamb
Some call it their duty
And they forgive them for their crimes
They know that every man
No matter where he stands
Hes just a victim of these times
