Do your songs constantly evolve?

So you obviously may change things throughout the process of writing and recording your song. But once it's released, do you feel you have to perform the song that way live every time, or do you change a melody here and there? Or rap the same lyrics but switch the flow. Or a guitarist who records a great melodic solo - you play it the same way live every time??

I've heard a popular artist say the idea is to get the listener to learn the music on the recording, and then identify it live, so they can sing along and whatnot. But obviously, artistic liberty is one of the upsides to playing live. So is this a dilemma?

id say playing live its best to play the song in the way the fans know and love, especially on your most popular joints.. if you think of a new melody or something, why not put it in a new track
