Books to help songwriting?

The best tool is to analyze hit songs and why they've become what they are. Also, listening to a beat and writing to the flow of it is a good starting point.

Writing Better Lyrics by Pat Pattison is AMAZING. I'm about halfway through and it's extremely insightful and well-written. Also, if you check the website Coursera, there's a free class on songwriting taught by an esteemed Berklee professor. It's free and supposedly extremely helpful; I haven't had the time to take it myself.
