Recently flipped a soviet funk sample for this one, thought it'd suit the Dj Premier treatment so I gave it a try:

You're gonna have to tell me about that.. lol
Anyway, you definitely nailed that Preemo groove.
There's a bit much reverb on the sample though, or it sounds too clinical and digital.
The sample overall is a bit thin, it could use some Pete Rock type treatment too: run a heavily filtered and compressed version underneath to serve as bassline.
The drums could use some more grit too, they sound good but a bit safe.
