It's more uplifting and happy sounding then dark.

By the way I am not juding your sound at all, but what I mean is when you put a genre on a track just get it right.
You give people the wrong expectations and people will react the way I did.

The mix sounds pretty harsh, the vocal chops is something I do not like but the melody is pretty good.

I would probably refer this track to big room or progressive house.
My tips
