Mm. I'm always looking for those obscure records from the foreign sections at record shops or at garage sales. Jazz records are always good too if you're you're trying to get strictly instrument-based samples

Everybody has their own preferences, and you will get yours too when you've been digging for some time and know what you want to find.. If you have been "digging" online, you may already have some idea of what you are looking for (you didn't mention anything though). People look at the record labels, musician credits, instruments, years, album covers and so on. Most of this will require some knowledge base, and you will be building that up by getting your fingers dusty.

Sampling all depends on What you are looking to sample... It could be a horn, riffs, vocals or whole beat loops. In my opinion, there's really No rules in sampling as far as recording the actual sound. The only thing you should take into consideration is the timing of the sample making sure it is in sync with the other soundc...

Learn filtering and low end theory first. Once you have mastered filtering, you won't be scared of any sample. Then you are free to pick and choose what you want.

Your taste for samples is something that develops as you dig and gain experience. The types of beats you like will evolve as you grow into a record collector.

totally depends on what you want to make!

most records have a good sound or two on them, just not always what you want at that moment in time.

getting sounds off the internet is great, but sampling records seems to always come up with more varied sounds for me.

buy records. that simple man. just get anything. ANYTHING. dont limit yourself to soul etc. i love sampling soul dont get me wrong. but if you buy records of all different styles your sampling will improve and your beats will send less similar to each other.
