USB Turntable sound question WTF

Some weeks ago I hooked up a numark usb turntable to ma laptop just to connect it and get it working.Then I UNPLUGGED it from my computer for a couple of weeks cuz i wasnt using it.I hooked it up yesterday and it will only play out ma speakers when i have audacity open.If audacity is not open it will not play out of ma regular speakers only the turntables speakers.(well thats wut it sounds like)Is that how its supposed to be cuz i coulda sworn it would play out ma big speakers whether audacity is open or not.
Id appreciate any feedback.

I would check the Numark site first to see if it's a bug in the software, or if there is an easy fix.
 
change the sample rate and than put it back to where you usally have it
