sampling vocals

i wanted to sample a line from a song, and i wanted to have the same effect that paul wall song "girl" has on it. how do i go about taking out the beat out of the original(i was told to mess around w/ eqs, and also use fl slicer..so do i slice it in lil' pieces and turn the volume down where the beat might be? ) but you know how some samples have that sound where it sounds like the pitch has been turned up or something...that effect.

it has. just turn up or down the pitch.

i think they might have equed the vocal since it sounds a little compressed with parts of the vocal "missing"

edit: i take that back it sounds like it was pitched up a bit but not as much as kanye where the singing loses it's original voice of the singer but this is a higher pitch but you can kinda hear the singers voice.
