I think choppin is ill. I don't just chop just so no one can recognize, but becuase it just sounds better, when you play the chopps out the way you like. But if its a dope loop then I'll leave as is. I'll maybe speed it up or slow it down to fit with the tempo that I want to use. Like it was mentioned just do what comes natural to you, and compose music.

There's tons of producers still chopping stuff up. I've always done both. If a track needs to get cut, I do it. If it plays better looped, then that's what I do. Hell sometimes I loop something and add drums, then chop portions of the loop up, add effects to the chops, then layer the chops as stabs over the original loop. Be creative, but ultimately do what sounds good to you.
