Recycle: chopping a whole song..

Hey Everyone

Can any of you ReCycle users tell me if thers a way to stick a whole song in Recycle (as opposed to a small 4 bar loop) and have it calculate the tempo for me so I can just chop away it and not have to set the number of bars for it? I saw thats how DJ Babu did it in the Reason demo video but didnt show how he got the tempo set.

first off your song has to be under five minutes long
second you I'm pretty sure you have to calculate the bpm yourself (so make a 2 or 4 bar loop that loops perfectly and use a tap tempo calc + metronome to make sure its right)

third cut off any dead air at the start of the song
fourth import into recycle and just start sliding the slider or "veiw grid" then "add slices at grid" (for 1 bar slices)

or tap out the bpm on a website or something then just add bars/beats in recycle untill it has the right tempo.

To tell you the truth, I don't even mess with Recycles BPM or I never have to calculate the beats and the bars mess.

I just make my own chops throughout the whole song and then when it asks me how many bars it is I just put in some random number. Then I save it and find the tempo in Reason. And if it's really too slow then I'll jus raise the pitch on the NNXT.

It's all about the way you play your samples back. You have to think about it like a jigsaw puzzle.
