Hey Guys,

I just have a quick question about sampling, please excuse my ignorance. Say I want to sample a track's melody, and I recreate it on a synth. I know that makes it so I don't have to pay the record company, but I still have the publishing company to get around. The original track was played on a guitar...if I play it on a VST, and the sound is not the same, but the notes are, do I still have to pay the publishing company? If I do it's totally fine, but I'm just curious. An example of this would be Right Round by Flo Rida I guess. Any and all help appreciated! Thanks!
