Panning

I have briefly heard of a technique when sampling in stereo that u can somehow pan certain instruments to isolate other frequencies. I got a break beat collection and they had the original and then the isolated beat on the left channel. Then i heard something else about it. Any body got any info, do u filter one channel and not the other or what?

If something is panned hard left, and you only take the left channel, for example?

It all depends on how it's panned, and what you need.

You may be presently suprised, or SOL.
