One Quick Question About Transposing

I have an MPC2000Xl and use the transposing effect quite often. I was just wondering how the Heatmakerz and other various producers such as Kanye transpose to make that Alvin & The Chipmunks sound. I've heard of some programs but can someone tell me which ones they use.
 
I'm betting they speed it up on the turntable itself, then sample it in and chop it.
 
I use Cubase SX 3 to do this but I think the majority of them can do this with the pitch shift funtion.
 
o ok thanks cuz i was just wonderin since ive heard rumors of a so called kanye west vsti time stretcher and an alvin and the chipmunks preset which is how kanye and heatmakerz get it to sound it so smooth. the mpc is really good at transposing but i dunno how they get it to sound that smooth in their songs.
