i am comparing hardware right, might have to make a move if u feel me. so i hop on youtube, and watch a bunch of ppl sample right. for every single one, no matter who it was, it seemed like the chopping took FOREVER. now, im in no rush dont get me wrong, but the same results are gained way faster and with more precision in recycle. ive seen ppl use it with reason as well, so im wondering if i could use both like samples out the nnxt, mpc drums effects or w/e. they used it just like a mpd, just to control reason sounds, nah mean? any help would be appreciated.

It takes me a long time to chop my samples no matter what I use. MPC or FL I always jump through multiple hoops in order to get exactly what I want.

I've only ever chopped on the mpc so I can't really compare.

I got the 1000 and chopping did suck with the akai os, but once I got the JJos, chopping is so quick and easy now.

I chop on Slicex in FL 9 and drag it into the FL Slicer then use my korg Pdkontrol... I've never had problems chopping it always relatively quick and easy.

And I NEVER auto-chop. That sh!ts against my religion lol.

Hardware chopping compared to software is crazy slow depending on how good you are at chopping on hardware. I fly on my EPS but I have decided that Recycle is just a better route for me.

second.. either way you end up going. end up getting the JJOS, otherwise itll be mad migraines for a long time. but i didnt really understand your origional question?
the mpc will do any sounds you might have in reason or any other program. also, when it comes to chops with hardware there is defitally a learning curve, esp if you plan on getting a 1000, the screen def leaves you wanting more.. but slowly you get faster and faster untill you chop just as easy as you did on slicex or any other deal. so yeah, if your willing to go through the headahces and noob feeling for a while then the mpc would be good.
...dont know if i answered your question, just my 2 cent

EDIT* also... tweak i agree, auto chop is for douches. either hard or software its bunk.

word, thanks for the answers. i already have an mpd32 i use with reason 4 and chop with recycle. i was offered hardware of my choice and am looking into mv vs mpc. chopping on both seems very slow but with the mv having a mouse and vga output it might be quicker than spinnin the wheel. ive never used hardware but im down to learn, read, and watch, practice, im all for that. chopping taking that long though would mess up the flow. i got a job ppl, nah mean? might just get a mpc500 and do my practicing at work. im so up in the air its ridiculous. being able to record on the mv is huge, but ive read you can on a mpc too. not really my objective but good to know i could make quality recordings on it, nah mean? rather than upgrading the comp. i may have to go mv, plus my dude got one so if i can ever get a hold of his ass he can help me the **** out.

Yeah I've had 2 mpcs (currently use the 2500) , an ASR ten, had FL, Had Reason, Had acid

Chopping is way quicker hardware than software

Doesn't mean its better I'm just saying its easier for me.
