Method of digging

When your digging for samples do you listen to records from start to end or skip through songs. Sometimes I find suprise samples halfway through songs which I wouldnt expect to hear from listening to the first minute of the song.
 
someone on here told me to look for good music and sample that and not to look for good samples. I usually listen to a song long enough to decide whether i like the groove or feeling first. then i narrow it down and listen to the entire song. In my opinion finding surprise samples isn't too helpful because you dont have anything behind it if you get what i mean.
 
It depends on what record it is. If its dope by its self, then hell yeah I listen to the whole thing. If its nothing to special then I may skip through and kind of pick up and put down the needle at a few different spots through out the track and if I don't find anything, the same process will be applied to the next track.
