Logic's ESX sampler

I have not used it that much yet but recently I tried to play a melody with some sampled files but I'm having some problems.

The key that I load it on plays the original sound, but as I go higher, it pitches up which is good but it plays the sound a lot faster, especially when I go up more then a few notes it turns into a very fast and pitched sample.

As I go lower, it pitches down but plays the sound a lot slower. Is this meant this way or do I have some function checked or unchecked?

Usually that's how it works. If you know exactly what pitch you want and want a specific tempo, then try using the Sample Editor instead and go to the Factory menu and use the Time and Pitch Machine. For that, use 100 for each half step you go up or -100 for each half step down. For example, if you know you want your sample to go 5 half steps up, you would put 500 in that box.
