A lot of producers come to the misconception that when you find an appealing sample with drums, you need to get rid of them and replace them with your own.
YOU CAN'T EQ DRUMS OUT OF A SAMPLE.
It's not possible. Most drum kit recordings span the widest frequency on the whole track! Layer drums, use the drum kit on the sample. I don't know of one well-known producer who EQ's drums. Stop making threads asking how to do it!!! PLEASE!!! haha.
Enough of that.
I've come to the conclusion that among all of the gear that I own I recently added something that has pretty much revolutionized the authenticity and overall quality of my music.
I bought a Hi Hat! No not a drum disk with hi hats on it... An acoustic real life hi hat! Probably the best thing I've ever bought. It adds so much to the mix, like a breath of fresh air into all my played out quantised drum patterns and groove templates. I recommend buying one!!!
