Layering Drums within redrum??

I saw an online tutorial showing me how to wire up redrum in reason to play multiple hits at once.

but why do people do it like this? cant u just load the individual hits into redrum and sequence them to hit at the same time?

is it due to the limited amount of drums you can have in redrum ?

In reason and also in music in general there are like a thousand ways to do one and the same thing so do what works best for you. I prefer the method with the wires because I don't like to work with the sequencer too much because it slows down the workflow for me.
