How do you make your own drum kit?

Do you take other peoples samples and change them or layer them. Can you just choose samples you use alot and call it your drum kit?

nah that's gonna be a copyright violation. Either record your own drum hits or synthesize them.... the last bit would be if you bought an electronic drum machine like rhythm wolf or something and you sampled your drums then processed them somehow. Do you wanna sell your drums?

regardless of whether it is shared for free or sold, you would still be violating copyright if you used someone else's sample set to construct your own.

For strictly personal use no problems, except where the sounds are identifiable as being someone else's creation and you have not purchased license to use that kit......

Chop drum breaks, layer with samples from other breaks and/or some drum machine sounds.
I also used filters heavily on my MPC.
Now I use compressor, transient shaper, EQ, sometimes filters too, when making drum sounds with FL Studio or Maschine software
