    Here's how you do it:
-Get a quick, snappy snare/kick (808 snares are the most common for snare rolls)

-Open the piano roll, make one long note for however you want your roll to last

-Highlight it all by right clicking on the top bar of the piano roll (the note should go from white-ish to red)

-In the top left corner of the Piano Roll window, click the box with a wrench in it, and select Chop

-Drag the "time mul" knob to get the speed of your snare roll (it will seperate one long note into a bunch of little ones, expirement with the exact settings)

-Randomly delete some of the notes in your roll, pan them a certain way, use slight pitch modifications for different ones, add a little reverb for space (again expirement)

It should give you the results you want

Im convinced its an art to make drums shuffle, brush and roll sorta naturally

I get better with every experiment

just keep in the basement...make yourself a cup of tea and sit down with some grounbreaking music and study it

try and get into the dynamics and feel of the drums, dont hesitate to stamp along with the kick or just follow the hat with your foot and listen to the way the drum track unwravells...
