Does anyone know how nujabes makes that robotic sound in this track? I was thinking maybe vocoder?

Sounds like a chopped vocal pitch changing upwards to me.

There are no vocals on the track he sampled to make this so if it's a vocal sample it came from somewhere else.(don;t think it did though)
Just kind of sounds like he went note off or did note repeat of a single at 1/32(3).
