I agree that it's good for hip hop producers to step out of the box every once in a while, but the reason why I mainly only sample soul is because that's just the music that I like to listen to. I definitely go through phases but right now the only thing that catches my ear is soul. With that said, you won't see me sampling some soul artist who has been sampled to death. I like finding obscure soul that most likely hasn't been touched.
