I'd say its obviously only people that don't properly know how to produce a sample replay that end up with something "not feeling the same" as an original sample. When you have that problem you should use sample replay experts like SCORCCiO Sample Replays SCORCCiO Music Recreations Vocal Remakes NYC Studios Barcelona - they put that "real feel" into their recreations every time. I have no idea what their secrets are, but those cats just know how to get that edge on the replay tip!
 
I do less sampling now than before. I also quit diggin for music where everyone else does... i.e. the crates. I think its a natural progression to want to learn and explore producing sample free music after years of chopping shit up.
 
Depends on the track. I try to use as much from the sample as I can and I don't use synths much if at all. I'll make the bassline myself sometimes, but I'd say 80% of what I do is purely from the sample.
