a lot of soul has string breakdowns. Listening to Delfonics and Temptations....you know what I'm talking about, but they have really great string riffs cause they have such great melody and are usually alot more uptempo then the classical compositions.

A little source of great samples no ones ever checked out are the Spaghetti westerns of the 60's (when italian directors made american westerns) alot of those soundtracks have great ensembles. Check out composers like Ennio Morricone and Giorgio Moroder

Ennio Morricone to be more specific. Composed alotta of those Clint Eastwood Westerns. Good,The Bad, and the Ugly; For Just a few more dollars; all kindsa ill stuff.
