turntable help

a freind of mine is going to give me some a turntables but im not sure what i can do with them. they have a usb plug and i have cubase but im not sure what i would need them for any help would b appreciated

ijust dont get whats the difference from using a turntable and like having a song saved to your itunes likr you can just import the file and chop it up

but is a turntable a neccesity like do i neep vinyl or just map3s in my music
 
you can only get so much on itunes besides vinyl is a lot cheaper you can get entire albums for less than $1 it costs you like $10 on itunes

ive never used them before im sorry for trying to get information on something like why do people always say something if your not going to help why post but thank you to everyone else that helped
