Hey y'all, I couldn't find proper info for my question anywhere so I thought you might be able to answer it.
I know that if one is to sample music from a video game, clearance is required before commercialising the tracks.
However, I remember reading somewhere that if the sample is processed and edited in a way that it is not the original soundwave anymore, it would be legal?
Basically I am sampling voices only and some special effects from certain video games, but pitching and processing the samples alot.
Do I still need to contact the company that made the game and ask them for permission? Even though it is not a musical composition that I am sampling?
Thanks for your help!
