Sample Recreating

Ive heard a few people mention sample recreating(though I'm sure there's a better term for it) and I'm positive Kanye among others have done it. My question is, what is the trick to it? Any tips?
 
I know CHOPS does it himself supposedly cause he knows alot of instruments. The Heatmakerz do it on occassion as well, whenever they cant get the sample cleared.
 
Dre gets people to come in and re-create songs all the time, i'm pretty sure Scott Storch used to do it for him (until people started coming to him instead of Dre).

i think its called interpolation.and you just really catch the essence of what your tryin to sample it makes clearing easier but it doesnt avoid clearing
 
i know Just Blaze has a small group of like 5 people who recreate stuff for him. it was in one of the newest scratch mags where they mention it. They did it on The Champ.
