questions about the sounds

i have some sound samples, and their extenion is .aif ... whatsup with that? and i previewed some in WMP before working with them and if you keep clicking play to reply the sound, it sounds different a few times.

same thing for a bunch of gun sounds that i got off these boards, but their extensions are the normal .wav , but they sound different sometimes when i keep pressing play, like the sound will be different or i'll hear 2 shots instead of one... whatsup with that?

(new at productions with small sample sounds)

it might just be audio card latency and aiff is used be mac and pc its just like .wav most musical software will load .aiff
 
so if i use the sound in a beat... will it be like.. normal? lol
