quantize samples

allright was watching this video of kev brown where he was saying he doesnt quantize when it comes to laying the sample and was wondering how many of yall do this i normally quantize the sample but might start taking the timing off to give it that swing
 
Yh I do that with the hi-hats and the snares but the kicks i dont quantize and everything else (Bass, crashes etc)
 
Sometimes but only snares, general i like to speed up tempo 2x and then is more easy to make nice vibe ;)
 
it mostly depends on the beat. I rarely quantize but if I do it's on the hats. most of my snare and kick samples incorporate accents and mimic the use of ghost notes so quantization would ruin that. sometimes I'll go in and adjust the midi notes by hand if something is a bit off. I've been messing around with the MPC groove templates in ableton recently, and I've been having good results with the random timing turned up to around 75%.
