If you're gonna flip a sample where you know you're going to be creating your own bass well you remove the bass using mixer or whatever before throwing in the sampler, Im using fl studio and I notic when I remove the bass in the FL I loose a lot of the samples volume where as pre eqing it i dont have that problem.

i remove the bass while i'm making the beat because my ideas sometimes change as i go along, so removing the bass before you import the sample in the beat would be destructive imo. i might change my mind and want to use the bassline of the sample instead of my own bass.
