Clams is sick with it, but he's not a big time producer, he shouldn't be listed with Dre, Pharrel, Just Blaze etc when talking about big time producers.
He hasn't even touched an album yet until ASAP Rocky's album drops.
But he's right though, you need money and backing behind you to clear all that ish, but if you have the power to do so it's worth it. Like dude above said the whole Good Kidd Madd City is pretty much sampled and the sample in particular makes the beat.
But pretty much though, sample based instrumentals are by farrrrr the best instrumentals. When I think of production without sampling, the first thing that comes to my mind is Trap/Dirty South production, which for me are my least favorite beats.
Productions with samples, I feel you can listen to without lyrics for the most part. The sample usually adds that little something that sounds sweet to the ears.
But Trap beats for example, without lyrics are not doing it for me.
